Do YOURSELF a
favor and PLEASE read the information
on this
link BEFORE you find a
sweet, cuddly puppy
and just can't resist taking it home!
VERY IMPORTANT! PLEASE
READ CAREFULLY!
Additionally, please read the information on this web
site "About Goldens."
After reading
this information, if you still can't live
without a puppy, and are ready to take on the
responsibility, please call
Linda James - 512-829-4061
Please remember:
A litter may not be available immediately.
Be prepared to be put on a breeder's waiting list.
It's well worth it to get what you really want.
Buying a Golden Retriever is a
lifelong commitment and not an impulse decision. Our puppy referral
volunteer will be happy to give you more information about purchasing a
Golden Retriever from a reputable breeder, and how you can determine if
you are dealing with a "reputable" breeder. Please remember to give the
puppy referral volunteer a few days to respond to your inquiry as she may
be out at a dog show, on vacation, at work, or just involved with personal
family life at the time of your call.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The Austin Golden
Retriever Club, strongly recommends that you buy a Golden Retriever puppy only
from a reputable breeder who, as a minimum, can provide copies of hip, eye, and
cardiac health clearances for both sire and dam of the litter. The article and
links on this site should provide you with information about those clearances.
AGRC encourages puppy buyers to thoroughly evaluate health and temperament of
any puppies offered for sale.
People listing litters with
AGRC
Puppy Referral have provided us with a copy of hip, eye, and heart clearances on both the
sire and dam of their litters. The breeder should give you a copy
of these clearance certificates on both the sire and dam as well.
These referrals are provided as information only. AGRC is unable to do site
inspections of breeders receiving referrals from the Club. AGRC is not
responsible for the physical condition of the puppies, the breeder’s adult dogs,
or the breeder’s premises. AGRC is not responsible for the breeder’s sale
practices and sales contracts, nor will AGRC be involved in any manner in
contract disputes between puppy buyers and breeders. Availability of puppies and
conditions of sale are at the sole discretion of the individual breeder. Buyers
are encouraged to take as much time as necessary to locate a reputable breeder
from whom they feel comfortable purchasing a puppy, and to investigate breeders
and their puppies thoroughly before committing to a purchase. You are not
obligated to purchase a puppy from the above referrals.

THERE ARE A LOT
OF PUPPY MILLS OUT THERE!
Educate yourself to insure you are
aware of what you are getting. Ask a lot of questions!
Raising an unhealthy puppy is not what you want to do!
PLEASE BE AWARE
OF WHO YOU ARE BUYING A PUPPY
FROM. PEOPLE WHO RUN PUPPY MILLS KNOW THE RIGHT
THINGS TO SAY TO CONVINCE YOU THAT IT'S NOT IMPORTANT
TO HAVE CURRENT HIP, EYE, AND HEART CLEARANCES ON BOTH
PARENTS.
DON'T BE FOOLED!
INSIST ON SEEING THE PAPERS
OR DON'T BUY! A reputable breeder will always give you a copy
of all health clearances on both parents. If they don't -- walk
away!
PROTECT YOURSELF.
Reputable
breeders will ask for a lot of information from you.
Please give it freely. The breeder is not only concerned that the
puppy is going to a good home, but that the home is ready for
the puppy.
